How to Feel Happy

Finding Happiness – Life Change Choices will help to find happiness.

Feeling positive inspires and motivates people to create wonderful lives.

We Live in a Chaotic World

In fact, there are instances that a chaotic world makes chasing your dream more exciting and inspiring.  We are vulnerable to undesirable situations in life which might cause frustration and disappointment since events happen in life that we cannot control.  What we can control is how we respond to catastrophe.  Adrenalin can feed negative and positive actions.  We are living for a purpose in life.  Happiness is felt through a number of ways.  We can find happiness from employment promotion, passing exams, entering a relationship and having good relationships with people around you. We strive for happiness.  It seems that everybody wants to have it –  at all costs.  It is one main reason why we do different kinds of things to have it.

Some believe that contentment involves having a lot of money.  At some point it is true, but money cannot give you all the important things in life.  You can use money to impress some people, buy houses to secure your family or experience a luxurious life.

However, money does not guarantee finding happiness, love, peace of mind and other essential things to people’s lives.  There are things that money can not buy.  If you think that money is the most important thing on Earth, then how would you explain the fact that there are millionaires, politicians, celebrities and other famous people who commit suicide?  Why are they so depressed when they have luxurious things?

Life Change Choices may help you discover what it is that makes you feel like flying.   Sometime it can be a matter of being content with what you already have.  That does not mean that you don’t continue to seek personal and professional improvement.

The Power of 2

Happiness is independent of fame or fortune.  You can do two things to become more upbeat, without achieving something great.  Discover the magic of body movement and focus and how they contribute to finding happiness.

1) The Magic of Body Movement

Let’s start by describing happiness.  It is an emotion.  It is a good feeling you have inside when certain things happen.  However, nothing needs to happen for you to feel joy.  Unconsciously, we choose when to be elated.

We think happiness just happens to us.  No it doesn’t.  We choose when to be happy, only we don’t know we are making a choice because those choices are unconscious.  For example, when you were proposed to or when you just got the news that the dream you’ve been chasing for years had come true, how did you feel?  You literally jumped up and down.  You shouted “Yippee!” your eyes wide with excitement.  You started dancing, and so on. The truth is you actually “gave yourself permission” to feel good this way because something happened to you.  The way you moved your body by jumping up, shouting, smiling (which is moving your facial muscles), etc. made you feel fantastic.  You unconsciously make a decision to feel good when certain things happen.

The good news is that nothing has to happen before you feel good.  Absolutely nothing! You can jump up and down and shout “Hurray!” even if you don’t get any promotion and you will feel good inside.  You can slide your favorite CD in the stereo and dance and feel good.  You can smile when talking to people and feel good.  Your body posture controls how you feel inside.  The emotion of happiness is connected to the way we move our bodies.

The same applies to depression.  When someone is depressed, what kind of posture does the person adopt?  Their shoulders will slouch.  They will look down.  There will be a sad expression (rather than a smile, both of which are just movements of the facial muscles).  For someone not to feel depressed, they can try changing their physiology (body movement) and their emotions may change.

2) The Magic of Focus

Focus means what you concentrate on.  If you want to feel depressed, you can in a twinkle of an eye.  All you have to do is focus on a bad experience in your past.  For example you can focus on when your girlfriend dumped you or focus on when you failed an exam.

On the other hand, for you to feel happy focus on a time when you had a really good experience in your life.  And when it comes to what you focus on, it is more than just focusing on the past.  It also involves focusing on what is happening presently and future events.  You can focus on the things working in your life right now.  Or you can focus on the things that are going wrong. When it comes to the future, do you focus on what you fear or do you believe things will work out and think about how well things are going to turn out?  The choice is yours alone.

Who Are You?

The ways you picture yourself is made up of your history.  That can be great and it can also be some heavy baggage.  It can include your fears, traumas and the way you chose to handle them.

Where to Start

Let’s say you don’t need to start at the bottom of a mountain.  Leave your bad history at the foothills and start your climb with a good self-image.  Figure out your assets, your strengths, the things that make you special.  Those will be the new seeds you sew to become who you truly are.

Imagine Your New Look

Picture in your mind the person you want to be.  Now eat, sleep and drink your new self.  This may feel like you’re an actor in a play at first.  But as you get used to the feel of your new clothes, it will begin to feel natural, like the real you.  If unsure of how to proceed, meet others that can serve as mentors.  Most people like the idea that someone sees them unique enough that another would want to mirror them.  They may even be able to offer advice on ways to get up that mountain.   And if you cannot meet them, simply observe their actions that appeal to you.

Make Your New Clothes Fit

As you climb, you’ll blend in characteristics that you have with those that you want.  You’ll become schooled in the skills you will need to make it happen.  Before you know it, you become the unique person you were meant to be.  Others will be pleasantly surprised to see you develop your wings.  Your improvement may be able to inspire them to see what’s under their wings.  Finding happiness is becoming YOU!

Are you finding happiness?  Recall a beautiful memory.  Put on a good song.  Visualize your dream coming true. Have a wonderful day.
